This Goes Out to All the ’90s Kids: Steve Is Proud of Us.

If we’re being honest, most of us spent Tuesday either catching up on work from the long weekend or bouncing back from our Labor Day weekend plans. But in the meantime, Nickelodeon was busy arranging a visit from every ’90s kid’s best friend, all the way from colorful Tribeca to any social media network near you.

Little did we know what was happening in New York and Toronto: not only the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking and much-loved Nick Jr. sitcom, Blue’s Clues, but the celebration of its cast and cast-by-extension: the audience, the true host of the show.

For anyone following along on Twitter, the first related post appeared on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in the form of retweeted fan art by “Bee” or @lzybeetle on Twitter. The retweet featured our favorite animal besties, Blue and Periwinkle, from the beloved ’90s-and-beyond sitcom — a perfect warm-up for what was to come the next day. . .

But Wednesday, September 8, was when the official Nick Jr.’s Twitter feed decided to pluck at the heartstrings of every Nickelodeon-loving ’90s kid out there: with the 25th Anniversary of Blue’s Clues and all of the hosts present: Josh, Joe, and of course, Steve.

The initial video opened with the familiar salmon-color, patterned wallpaper we all remember. Many of us ’90s kids practically grew up with those walls!

Then entered a familiar, if older Steve from the right, adjusting his shirt over a small pooch of a belly, muttering, “It looks like it still fits.”

But then his eyes connected with the camera, and an old comfort drifted into the video.

Steve exclaimed, “It’s you!”

Then he called Joe over, who was equally surprised and excited.

Just like the show, this moment easily transitioned into a fun, upbeat song, called “You Can’t Spell Blue without
